4.3 / 5
Best for
Existing SodaStream users looking for a more refined, everyday upgrade.
The SodaStream Art is a manual sparkling-water maker designed to let you carbonate tap water at home in seconds. Rather than using electric controls, it features a traditional-style carbonation lever, a quick-lock bottle system and the newer Quick Connect CO₂ cylinder. If you have owned an older SodaStream before, you will immediately recognise the concept, but the Art feels like a noticeable step forward in both design and everyday usability.

Why I Upgraded
I had previously been using the SodaStream Genesis, which has been a very good machine. The Art does not reinvent home sparkling water, but it does make the whole experience feel more polished. The first thing I noticed was the build quality. It feels sturdier, more premium and better finished than my previous machine. It also looks more at home on a modern kitchen worktop. What really sold it for me was the way you use it. Instead of repeatedly pressing a button, the large carbonation lever feels smooth, satisfying and a little more fun. It is one of those small changes that makes something you use regularly feel nicer every day. The bottle fitting has also been improved. Rather than screwing the bottle into place, you simply insert it, close the mechanism and you are ready to carbonate your water. It removes one of the fiddlier parts of using some older machines and makes the whole process quicker.
What I Liked
After using both the Genesis and the Art, the biggest difference is not the sparkling water itself. It is the overall experience. Everything feels more refined. The lever is enjoyable to use, the machine feels more solid and fitting the bottle is noticeably easier. They are small improvements individually, but together they make the Art feel like SodaStream has modernised the experience without making it more complicated. I also like that compatible bottles can still be used. If you need extras, suitable spare SodaStream bottles are easy to add to your setup. If you would like something smarter for carrying sparkling water away from home, the Fizz & Go bottle is a useful option, while SodaStream syrups give you an easy way to add flavour. Another thing I noticed is how effective the carbonation is. The Art produces plenty of fizz, giving you good control over how sparkling you want your water to be.
Things to Know
The main thing to check before buying is CO₂ cylinder compatibility. The SodaStream Art uses the newer Quick Connect cylinder system. If you are upgrading from an older machine, check which type of cylinder you already own before ordering replacements. I would also suggest starting gently with the carbonation lever until you find your preferred level of sparkle. The Art is very effective, so it is easy to add another pull if you want more fizz. It is better to build the carbonation gradually than overdo it on your first attempt.
Who Is It Best For?
The SodaStream Art is a strong choice if you already enjoy sparkling water and want a machine that feels more refined than some older SodaStream models. It is particularly worthwhile if you are upgrading from an earlier model and want easier bottle fitting, a more satisfying lever and a more premium overall experience.

Final verdict
The SodaStream Art does not completely change the way you make sparkling water, but it does not need to. Instead, it improves the small things you notice every time you use it. The updated design, satisfying operation and quick-lock bottle fitting combine to make it feel like a thoughtful evolution of the SodaStream range. For me, it genuinely feels like SodaStream has modernised the experience. If you are replacing an older machine or buying your first sparkling-water maker, the Art feels like a genuine upgrade.
